Horses have always played a prominent role in Cheri’s life. As a child she was either drawing them, learning anatomy, performing horse care or taking riding lessons. At the time, she had no idea that her love of horses would not only change her life but the lives of others.

While completing a degree in Sociology from the University of Toronto, Cheri began her marketing career at an innovative video gaming company. As Marketing Director she learned under fire how to develop a launch marketing strategy for a global audience. The company took off, with unprecedented sales demand in the first two years.

Cheri then joined The UPS Store (formerly Mail Boxes Etc.). As National Marketing Manager she was responsible for maintaining the brand and growing annual sales of 300 Canadian franchise locations. Balancing the needs of small business owners to develop practical marketing tools, within the requirements of the national brand, was excellent training. Cheri cultivated skills in collaboration, diplomacy and consensus-building. Nurturing relationships with advertising agencies, consultants and corporate partners, such as Xerox and Canada Post, rounded out Cheri’s ability to be effective in multiple settings – from the boardroom to the retail floor.

After a 12-year career in corporate marketing, extensive business travel and life in downtown Toronto, Cheri and her husband bought a secluded 85-acre farm in the Greater Peterborough Area. This major shift was a dream come true – they were growing roots in the country and caring for horses on their own land.

In 2005, Cheri invested in her passion for cultivating success in organizations and founded First Harvest Marketing. Whether championing the rights of those with disabilities or assisting entrepreneurs to realize their dreams by executing solid marketing strategies, she works on the basis of respect, collaboration and partnership. Her expertise lies in creating effective marketing strategies that magnify clients’ unique characteristics. Whether the client is a micro-business, a not-for-profit or a national franchise, Cheri takes a creative approach to branding challenges.

It is the unique aspect of partnering with her horses that drew Cheri to the field of Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning (FEEL) Believing that God creates horses with special gifts to help humans learn to live life fully, she is delighted to be sharing her horses and their gifts with people from all walks of life. Cheri has a passion for supporting people who are experiencing high workplace stress, exceptional family circumstances, life transitions and bereavement.

As a graduate of the FEEL Certification program from Horse Spirit Connections (2014), Cheri is honoured to be partnered with her horses in offering Horse Discovery at First Harvest Farm. Cheri invites you to visit her tranquil farm in the rolling hills of Northumberland County. Escape the busyness of life for an afternoon or full-day experience. Book time for your own self-discovery, or bring a friend or partner and experience the horses together. Group sessions will be customized to your interests and goals. Nature hikes, meditation garden and pond, napping hammocks, yoga and hearty picnic meals are available to complete your day. Consider bringing your corporate group, Board of Directors, service club or family for a unique learning experience.
