Tina Turner

Tina has been playing with horses since before she could walk. Raised by a father who taught her a love for great stories and a deep connection to nature, and a mother who taught her the importance of giving whole heartedly, she dragged her family through years of early horse adventures.

Tina has been an equestrian rider for over 40 years, competing at youth international competitions in Virginia and around the Toronto area and working with horses in Kentucky, New Zealand and Australia as well as in her home town of Oakville, Ontario. For the past decade Tina has supported many young riders as they started exploring horses and equestrian riding.

Tina’s other passion and profession of 20+ years is learning and growth – building and delivering specialized learning programs. She has worked with many different professions, industries and education groups to produce award winning live and elearning programs. For the past seven years Tina has worked with her business partners to build an e-learning technology company – their LMS platform, Crowd Wisdom, has also won numerous awards and recognitions.

The Courage Herd is inspired by the journey between her daughter, diagnosed at age 9 with epilepsy and their wonderful, horse teacher, Echo. Tina has spoken, written about and tirelessly explored the transformation possible when our deepest challenges are seized as a precious opportunity for our growth.

The Courage Herd is a unique farm facility located in Ottawa, Ontario dedicated to helping youth and their families explore this edge of possibility for themselves with the horses. The Courage Herd is home to Echo, four other amazing horses: Sonnet, Aideen, Orion and Cohen, a donkey named Whisper, two dogs and a cat.

Tina holds an Honors Bachelor of Commerce from Carleton University, a unique Masters Degree from the Graduate Institute in Connecticut, USA, in the study of culture and consciousness, and the FEEL certification (Facilitated Equine Experiential Learning), among other specialized courses in horse behavior and animal communication. Tina is an avid volunteer-advocate with Epilepsy Ontario and the Ontario Brain Institute.
